70 year old man dies of liquor over dose at Congress rally


Supporters allegedly distribute freebies to attract gathering

A 70-year-old, Prakash Chand, a resident of Prangoli village in Bilawar, died on Wednesday due to an overdose of liquor, ‘allegedly provided by the supporters of a Congress candidate, Dr Manohar Lal to attract gathering.
According to sources, the supporters of Congress candidate had allegedly distributed ‘freebies liquor’ among all those who participated in the rally, taken out during filling of Nomination papers by the candidate , who is also a sitting Minister.
Sources revealed that before heading towards the office of Returning Officer, the supporters of Congress candidate, Manohar Lal allegedly distributed ‘liquor’ for pull the gathering for a massive rally.
They maintained that the Prakash Chand was not habitual drinker, as his financial condition was not so strong. The supporters of the congress candidate provided free liquor to allure him and others  to be part of the rally.
“He consumed the whole liquor instantly, due to which he lost his conscious and fell down amid rally. The other supporters with the help of police shifted him to local hospital, wherein doctors declared him as brought dead,” they shared.
Talking to Greater Kashmir, police official confirmed that an old man died in the rally due to liquor over dose.
“After receiving information, our team reached the spot and shifted the old man to the local hospital. He was heavily drunk,” said police official, wishing anonymity, he added that the man was declared dead by the doctors.
When contacted, Returning Officer (RO), Rajeshwar Singh Charak,   said that he has no knowledge about the incident.
